Teaching with Comics: Artist Talk with Mohammad Sabaaneh & Anthony Louise-Jeune

Saturday, May 20, 9:00 a.m.

Kevorkian Center, 50 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012 (map)

NYU CLACS and the Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies will be hosting two graphic artists who will speak on their use of comics to address societal issues facing their native countries. From two different countries, Mohammad Sabaaneh of Palestine and Anthony Louise-Jeune of Haiti have both found art as an outlet to espress frustration about and provide commentary on issues ranging from environmental degradation, pervasive violence, and education.

Copies of Sabaaneh's White and Black: Political Cartoons from Palestine and Louis-Jeune's Djatawo will be mailed to the participants prior to the May 20th workshop. Participants are strongly encouraged to read both books before attending the event.

The event is free and open to the public. Photo ID required to enter building.
